A successful morning of garage sale shopping resulted in many new crafts. As I am increadably bad at remembering to take a picture of the materials and original items before I start making my new crafts (I'm just too excited for the end result!) I have a kind of pre-work picture.
I started with a green frame that held the lovely picture on the left. I was debating whether or not to buy yet another frame (I have way too many as it is) and apparently I was standing and stareing at the frame way too long because the lady selling it said I could have it half off if I really wanted it. So I got my new frame for only one dollar! I was pretty excited because it is in such good shape and it is a big frame, which is hard to come by in my price range.
So I started by removing the insides and the glass and setting them aside. I then started to paint the green frame black. Two coats of paint and it was done.
Next (not pictured) I used mod podge to stick the scrap book paper to the old matte that came with the frame. To do this I lined up the paper glued it down, then flipped over the matte and used an razor blade to cut off the excess paper. I was sure to line up each section of paper so the words somewhat matched. Then I cut an oval piece of tan paper that I printed "Our Wedding Day, June 18th, 2011" on. It was then placed at the top to cover a not so great paper seam.
Next I made two paper flowers by cutting a spiral out of a square piece of paper and then winding it up.
Finally I put the frame back together and glued the flowers to the front of the glass.
Now I have a beautiful frame for a wedding picture! And the best part is that it only cost me about $3 for the supplies! Now I can't wait for our wedding so I can add a picture to the frame!
