Curtain Make Over: Ruffled Kitchen Curtain

My kitchen curtain was from a friend’s old rental houses. At this point in the game free is good but it definitely needed a little make over.
Here is the before and after.

How Did I Do It??

1.       Layout one side of the curtain pair. Use the other side to roughly guess the size of the ruffles and how far down it will need to go to fill your window. (Mine could have been placed a little lower but  it worked out alright because I have to have some fabric to tuck behind the counter.)
2.       Cut out each ruffle strip and pin them on. (I hemmed after I sewed the ruffles on. It may be easier to hem the bottom edges and then sew the ruffles on to the curtain.
To make the ruffles I folded the fabric at the top and pinned it so I could sew it down.

3.       Once all but the top ruffles are sewn down its time for the top ruffle. This one should be hemmed at the top and bottom because both will show. After folding over the “back” curtain so there was a hole for the curtain rod to go through I pinned on the ruffle just high enough so it would stand up above the top.

4.       Clean up any stray strings and you’re done!

Best Christmas gift this year and possibly ever...!

Thanks mom and dad!

I Made it!

First I had to post the flowers my fiance gave me for Valentine's Day. My favorite, Gerbera daisies, Love him!
I tried to turn the picture before I posted but it decided to turn back and I don't have the patience to go back and fix it.

I am so excited for spring weather so I can wear my new spring skirts that I made! I followed the instructions from one of my new favorite blogs, MADE www.dana-made-it.com Love it!
On the back I put ribbon to make my own little tag, plus it just adds a little something.

Ahh, so cute! Can't wait to wear them!!

I made all three of these in one afternoon. Once you do the first one they are really easy to just whip off.
Oh Spring I am ready for you!

Getting back on track

So holidays are the worst when you're trying to loose weight. I did alright but the candy hearts and M n' Ms around the house aren't helping. I weighed myself today not please but I guess it's better than none or gaining.

Weight Loss Log:
4/8/11 - 147
4/15/11 - 146

All this means is I need to kick it up a notch and not give in to the cravings. I CAN do this!

Valentine's Day

This past weekend wasn't the best for my diet but with everything going on I think I did prety well to eat the best I could and have small servings of the foods that I shouldn't be eating. The upside is that my pants that used to be a bit tight were loose and I had to keep pulling them up. so thats good.

No Zumba tonight because of Valentine's Day date night. secretly I'm a bit bummed, I really like zumba. But I know I will have a great night!

I hope everyone has a romantic Valentine's Day!!

Daily update

today I feel I did really good with my eating habits. I am however quite hungry right now but we are going out to eat so I am doing my best to wait untill we get to the restaurant. Last night I went to the gym after work and ran on the treadmill for 30mins (only walking probably a total of 8 mins) I'm very proud of this achievement! It felt really good too, not like it usually does. Maybe I can make a runner out of myself after all. haha we'll see.

Daily goal report

So day 3 of my weight loss goal and I really really really want to sit down with a box of crackers!!! Clearly the reason I needed to create this goal in the first place. Okay so to keep my self accountable I just continually say 2lbs 2lbs 2lbs to remind my self that I can meet my 2 pound goal for this week. Sounds crazy but it seems to be working. Any way I went to the gym today, ran/walked (mostly ran) for 30mins. Pretty proud of myself!

I ate eggs and bacon for breakfast, had flavored coffee with no creamer although I have to admit I had flavored coffee because it felt better on my soar throat, for lunch I ate, well I don't remember, For supper I had ground beef mixed with veggies and salsa with no chips or taco shells (not a great taco but it did taste good). I also had frozen fruit and a spoon full of peanut butter for snacks. And of course I drank lots and lots of water and ... no diet!

welcome

My new blog will be all about the things I love... dancing, crafting, sewing, family, friends, life, etc. I'm excited to start sharing with those who follow me. So check back every once in a while for some new posts! And don't forget to let me know your visiting. I like to get feed back from everyone, plus although I love when people visit I'm not too fond of not knowing who is looking at my blog.

First thing I want to post...

My new goal began yesterday. I'm getting married in the spring and as every bride to be does I want to loose some weight. Now I've tried the workout programs and long term goals thinking that way I would have time to reach my goal. Other than maintaining my current weight I haven't reach any of my goals. So... I am now making a new goal. Short term and easy to see the finish line.

10 pounds in 5 weeks

By eating healthier, reducing snacking, and eating less to no carbs and dairy, and exercising as much as possible (but not too much as to ruin my efforts) I think that loosing 2 pounds a week should be reach able.

I started this goal yesterday, so as day two I thought a good way to stick with my goal and reflect on what I've done is to write about it.

So for the next 4 weeks I will be posting on my eating habits and workout progress, along with the more fun posts like crafts and links and whatnot.

Breakfast: two eggs on toast with strawberry jelly
Lunch: Spinach salad with lemon juice for dressing
Drinks: water and coffee so far

I hope you come back to see what I have to share!

until next time
